Home Remedies for Glowing Skin

A radiant and glowing skin indicates a healthy skin and who would not like to have this. Agreed there are thousands or even more creams available in the market claiming to offer the desired results in a short-time. There are no short-cuts to health, be it the physical health or the health of the skin. Grandmother tips from the kitchen can be effective though this might take a little time. There is no overnight magic to get this glowing skin; you need to work for it.

Tips for Glowing Skin:

  1. Use of Aloe vera:

Your skin can get that natural glow you are looking for by using Aloe vera gel. This gel has healing and nourishing properties.

Mix 1 tablespoon of aloe vera Gel with 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of milk and a pinch of turmeric and apply this on your face and neck evenly and rinse it off after around 20 minutes. You need to use this pack once or twice in a week and have patience to see the results.

  1. Using Turmeric:

Due to the presence of curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory properties and is an antioxidant, turmeric can eliminate free radicals that damage the skin. This also keeps your skin glowing and supple as it increases the production of collagen. Using gram flour with turmeric can help in cleansing of the skin.

Mix 4 tablespoons of gram flour with ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder and make a paste with the help of water or milk. Apply this on your face and rinse it off only after 15 minutes with plain water.

This needs to be carried out twice a week for best results.

  1. Use of Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil works well for skin which is dry and dull as this can lock the moisture in skin and ensures nourishment of the skin with the content of fatty acids. This helps in the glow you need for your skin.

Warm up Virgin Coconut oil and massage your face with this in circular motions for some time. You can add some sugar to this oil and use it like a scrub. This can be used once or twice a week.

  1. Using Papaya:

The enzyme present in the papaya acts like an exfoliator. This can remove the dead cells of the top layer and offers a younger and radiant skin. The Fuller’s earth used can cleanse the pores of the oil and grime, improving the complexion and also toning the skin. Honey used in this mix tends to hydrate and moisturize the skin. This brings down the blemishes. This is an anti-ageing and skin firming face pack.

Take a few pieces of ripe papaya and add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of Fuller’s earth to this. This paste needs to be applied to your face and you can wash this off with cold water after around 20 minutes. Use this pack only once a week for the desired results.

  1. Using Lemon:

The Vitamin C present in the lemon can help remove tan and also bleaches the face. This makes your skin look radiant and brighter. You can get rid of the dead cells with the help of the sugar granules.

Mix 2 teaspoons of sugar with 2 teaspoons of sugar and apply this on your face. Ensure you scrub your face with this and wash this off only after 10 minutes with warm water. This needs to be carried out at least two times in a week.

It is important to use sunscreen before you step out of the house as lemon tends to make the skin photosensitive.

  1. Using Baking Soda:

Baking Soda works as a perfect exfoliator for the dead cells in the skin. With the anti-bacterial properties of baking soda you are spared of the risks of different infections.

Mix 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of honey. This needs to be applied on a damp face in circular motions. Rinse this after 10 minutes with cold water and pat it dry. Use your normal moisturizer.

  1. Using Honey:

Honey not only moisturizes the skin but can also retards the formation of wrinkles and ensures a youthful look.

All you need to do is apply honey in an even manner on damp skin and massage for around 5 minutes. You can then wash this off after another 5 minutes with water that is lukewarm.

  1. Using Cucumber:

Cucumber is known to rejuvenate and replenish dull skin due to the presence of antioxidants. This can reduce swelling and improve the complexion overall.

Grate 1 small cucumber and add 3 tablespoons of yogurt in this. Apply this on your face and wash it off after 10 minutes with cold water.

  1. Using Olive Oil:

Olive oil can impart a shine to the skin besides moisturizing it. The polyphenols and the flavonoids present in this oil offer the required protection from the free radicals. This can also prevent any damage to the skin. The skin is healthy and glowing as this oil can also repair the skin.

Apply a few drops of olive oil on your face and neck. Massage this for around 2 minutes. Place a towel on your face for a few seconds. This towel needs to be dipped in warm water and the excess water needs to be wrung off. After some time, you need to dip this towel again and wipe off any oil from your face with this. This can be done every night.

  1. Using Rose Water:

Rose water is used as a skin toner. This can refresh and cleanse the skin. As this stimulates the circulation of blood it tends to brighten the tone of the skin. This is also known to balance the pH of the skin.

Refrigerate the rose water for half an hour. Apply this on your face and neck with the help of a cotton ball. This needs to be repeated twice a day.

To ensure a glowing skin it is important to keep away from excessive drinking and smoking. These are responsible for wrinkles and also ageing.
