Tips on using Cranberries for Hair and Skin

Cranberries are considered as a ‘super’ food due to the presence of multiple different nutrients. They are a rich source in antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and polynutrients. Besides being able to heal the inflammation of the stomach, avoid respiratory infection, prevent the infections of the urinary tract, cranberries also look after the cardiovascular health. These can strengthen the teeth and also the bones and aid in the required loss of weight. These can be consumed raw or in the form of juice, sauces and jams.

Besides the mentioned benefits, cranberries also benefit the health of the hair and the skin.

  1. Cranberries for Blemishes and Acne:

Apply cranberry juice directly on the acne or blemish with the help of a cotton swab. You can wash this with water once it has dried. This helps in soothing the acne due to the anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties. The presence of Vitamin C in this fruit can help in the fading of the marks and scars.

  1. Cranberries for Hyper-pigmented skin:

Mix a little gram flour with a little of cranberry juice and massage your face with this mask for around 15 minutes. You can then rinse this off. The pigmentation of the skin can be removed due to the astringent and anti-oxidant properties of cranberries.

  1. Cranberries for firm Skin:

Mix a little orange juice with cranberry juice and apply this on your face. After some time, this can be rinsed off with cold water. The Vitamin C present in cranberries boosts the production of collagen and improves the elasticity of a sagging skin. This production of collagen helps in carrying the different nutrients and oxygen to the skin. The skin is firm, soft and glowing.

  1. Cranberries for Irritation of the Scalp:

Mix cranberry juice with an egg white. Massage this well into your scalp sans overlooking the tips of the hair. After a few minutes of massaging your scalp with this, you can wash it off with cold water. Scalp irritation can be prevented due to the anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties of cranberries.

  1. Natural Hair color:

Mix some water with pureed cranberry juice. Apply this on your hair and let it dry. You can wash off with normal water. For that beautiful tinge, you need to ensure you repeat this process for 2 to 3 days at a stretch.

This natural hair color does not have any side effects and is safer as compared to the different chemical laden hair colors available these days.
